Grow Your Business Without Opening Another Shop

A new collection point can reach customers without becoming another full-service branch. Keep fulfilment at a workshop, laundry or shop and investigate local handovers through partner counters or smart lockers. The question is whether each point adds enough useful demand to cover its costs.

Illustrative local repair collection point, one potential alternative to a staffed branch

Choose between a branch, delivery and a collection point

A staffed branch can provide advice and onsite service. Delivery brings orders to customers but needs routing and successful handovers. A partner counter or locker collection point can offer convenient pickup, with less onsite service. None is universally cheapest.

For residential buildings first, then workplaces, shops and community spaces, ask whether the service is genuinely needed and whether customers will change their routine. Validate with paid orders or a small manual collection arrangement before adding equipment.

Separate central fulfilment from local handovers

A laundry still cleans garments; a repair workshop still diagnoses and repairs items; a retailer still picks and packs orders. The collection point receives labelled items and gives authorised customers a way to collect or return them.

Agree cut-off times, processing capacity, transport schedules, item custody and turnaround promises. Extended pickup access does not mean repairs or laundry processing happen around the clock.

Build a repeatable host agreement

Settle permitted services, space, actual access hours, power, connectivity, installation approval and removal. Name who loads items, supports customers and investigates losses. Confirm building, fire and accessibility requirements before choosing a position.

Possible commercial terms include a fixed site fee, an agreed share of revenue or a host-funded resident amenity. These are negotiations, not standard LockerLauncher commissions. Keep customer pricing and host fees clear.

Check the economics of the whole route

Calculate incremental contribution from completed orders minus partner work, processing fees, consumables and transport. Then account for the location fee, software, maintenance, support and equipment costs. Include your time and the cost of travelling between sites.

An extra location can make a route denser or create a costly detour. Count unsuccessful handovers, overdue items and empty journeys. Do not assume site count, full compartments or sign-ups equal profitable demand.

Standardise operations without assuming identical sites

Use a consistent item reference, loading check, collection instruction and exception process. Provide partner training and reconcile items received, loaded, collected and returned. Decide who can see which customers and records.

LockerLauncher offers back-office management and agreed integration options. Confirm hardware, app and partner-system scope before connecting services; a shared platform does not make every workflow or location automatically compatible.

Expand only when the pilot is repeatable

Compare demand, contribution after all costs, repeat usage, partner performance and support burden at the first point. Test one additional similar site rather than committing to many branches at once.

If volume is weak or access is inconvenient, change the location or the offer. Retain a manual process for exceptions and document an exit plan with the host. Expansion is an option to earn through a better service, not a guarantee of higher income.

Questions fréquentes

Can a dry cleaner grow without another shop?
It can investigate collection points linked to its existing processing operation. Demand, route costs, host terms and support determine whether this is viable.
Are lockers always cheaper than a branch?
No. Compare the full costs and service requirements. A partner counter or delivery service may be a better pilot.
Does a pickup point offer instant fulfilment?
No. Collection availability and processing turnaround are separate. Only notify the customer once the correct finished item is ready.
